Air and environments
In July 1996, with Protocol 24482, the
Ministry of Health has recognized the ozone as: "Presidium for the
sterilization of natural environments."
In addition, the existing provisions on occupational safety (D.
Lgs. 626/94) and hygiene (HACCP 155/97) provide for a safe and
healthy working environment.
The air is essential for life and it is often a vehicle of
infection for humans and animals. The microbial air pollution is an
issue of great relevance to public health, but also for the food
industry (both for the environmental and food application). Air
treatment with ozone is an important goal because it is able to
provide different results, which can range from simple to complete
disinfection and sterilization of air; at the same time it ensures
the total absence of chemical residues.
The environments, especially public, are attended by large numbers
of people and their presence increases the chances of spreading
viruses, bacteria (including Legionella) and that can spread
rapidly some diseases such as influenza, colds, infections of the
mucous membranes and allergies. Sterilization of these environments
is therefore of paramount importance and ozone has proved a viable
alternative to treat these environments, and it is certainly
cheaper than traditional methods that use chemicals.
The air and surface sterilization by ozone concerns both private
and public environments such as schools, kindergartens, gymnasiums,
medical facilities, testing laboratories, shopping malls, airports,
offices, containers, hotels and restaurants. Also the aerodynamic
circuits (conducted by the central water treatment in the jet and
speakers) should be cleaned and sanitized, because they constitute
essential requirements for protection of human health.
Ozone sterilizes and sanitizes rooms,
curtains, fabrics and surface environments quickly and without
leaving any odors (such as smoking) or toxic compounds. Ozone is
heavier than air and is able to penetrate hard to reach hidden
areas and other products.
Thanks to these characteristics, it is able to penetrate deeply
into the conduct of conditions, eliminating bacteria and viruses in
a definitive manner, without releasing any odor.
Even health spas and sports facilities need cleaning and
sterilization treatments. Water showers and toilets of these plants
may be infected by different organisms, including legionella. In
addition, infections can be easily transmitted through contaminated
surfaces, or from person to person, especially when these areas are
very crowded.
In environments and wet surfaces (tools gyms), fungus are easily
formed.
Even in these environments sanitation and sterilization of the same
by bacterial pathogens is essential.
Ozone is applied in the disinfection of water for nursing homes,
hospitals, hotels, spas, gyms, spas, beauty centers, communities,
restaurants.
