Carpal Tunnel

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a neuropathy caused by compression of the median nerve at the wrist, in its passage through the carpal tunnel. This is a cavity located in the wrist through which pass the veins and tendons that operate the bending of the fingers.
It predominantly affects women and varies according to place of work, which can help to increase or decrease the incidence of the disease. Initially, the carpal tunnel syndrome is manifested by tingling, numbness or swelling of the hand, and in particular of the median nerve, especially in the morning or at night. The pain may also extend to the forearm. As a result, the individual may lose sensitivity in the fingers and strength throughout the hand.
