Thrombophlebitis
Thromboph
lebitis or venous
thrombosis, is the inflammation of the wall of a venous vessel,
which is associated with thrombosis of the vessel itself. Factors
that may contribute to
thrombophlebitis are the increase of
blood coagulation or platelets, the decrease of blood circulation,
venous wall injury, infectious diseases, surgery, and finally
pregnancy and childbirth.
There are
two types of thrombophlebitis: deep vein thrombosis, which affects
the large veins and deeper, and superficial thrombophlebitis, which
affects the veins instead closer to the skin surface. Mainly
affects the veins of the lower extremities, the inferior vena cava,
pelvic veins, portal vein. The most common symptoms of
thrombophlebitis are the significant enlargement of the affected
limb, pain, which then becomes mild burning, the increase
temperature and redness of the skin overlying the vein. It presents
with fever, aches, vomiting, diarrhea, enlargement of liver and
spleen.Oxygen-Ozone Therapy:
